Aside from the general sense of well-being you get from taking care of your needs, you can also shrink your waistline! When you’re feeling burdened or stressed out it can lead to inflammation in your digestive tract which gives you that bloated feeling and inhibits proper digestion of your food. It also signals your body to release cortisol (the stress hormone) to support your fight or flight response by elevating blood sugar levels. If the blood sugar (energy) isn’t used then it’s stored as fat, typically around the waist. So why not do your best to lessen stress with enjoyable activities such as; walking, reading, exercise, going outside, friendly conversations, listening to music, taking a break, meditation…etc. Support your general sense of happiness and shrink your waistline, sounds good to me!
