“Dig deep” OR “Find the strength” are commonly heard phrases that apply to different kinds of strength; physical, mental and emotional. Sometimes finding any type of strength alone seems difficult to say the least and borrowing it from someone else can make a difference. The use of a spotter for the last few reps of an exercise helps you to safely accomplish that task and further your own muscular strength gains. Asking for advice or troubleshooting a problem with a trusted source is a great way to find a solution AND build what I like to refer to as your mental muscle, even though your brain is an organ. Confiding in someone and allowing them to offer hope might shed light on a dark situation and brighten your spirits. When you find yourself needing to borrow strength remember this – we are intelligent social creatures who ALL require support in the form of nudges, ideas, smiles and hugs.
