Mooove Over Milk

Simply put, water is best!  Through my childhood I drank milk because it’s what my parents thought was best.  Growing up I replaced it with water until I discovered coffee which I thoroughly enjoyed with cream.  At this point I was a mom in my twenties and had just barely began my nutrition studies, which have continued over the past 25 years.  I have learned through research, various scientific studies, certification programs, personal and professional experiences why milk is only good for baby cows.  Many of us have adverse reactions to milk and milk products like digestive problems, wheezing, sneezing, and rashes on our skin.  Most milk comes from pregnant cows making it the #1 source of consumed estrogen and I rarely hear people saying, “If only I could boost my estrogen levels.”  It is rich in saturated fat, IGF-1 and it’s highly inflammatory.  All of which support weight gain and disease, no thanks! The misguided theory that we need it to support bone density is debunked by the fact that osteoporosis is more prominant in countries (as indicated by hip fractures) where the population consumes greater amounts of dairy.  My personal (and professional) experiences have confirmed these findings.  Ditching dairy, for the most part, has greatly minimized my seasonal allergies, supported fat loss and maintenance of my healthy body weight and eased my transition through menopause.  So raise a glass of water and cheers to your good health!
