Assess, Begin & Continue

It all boils down to some of this and some of that. Some work, activity and exercise balanced with some rest and recovery. Some good whole foods and some processed food. What trips most people up is finding the right balance but the answer is very apparent, so long as you’re paying attention to the cues your body gives you. If you feel strong and energetic then your work to rest ratio is likely good. If not then edit your schedule and see how that serves you. A good rule of thumb is a 60/40 balance between activity and rest but you can certainly tweak this as needed. How you feel is your body’s way of giving you feedback so be attentive to that and respond accordingly to enjoy strength, energy and vitality.

Are you enjoying comfortable digestion and a fit body or feeling bloated, lethargic and fat? Making gradual changes to your diet is a realistic and sustainable approach. Good food including; fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds deliver a wide variety of macro and micronutrients plus dietary fiber. Supporting good digestion, energy, weight management and disease prevention, these foods should make up the bulk of your diet or 80%. Processed foods include everything processed, packaged or including an ingredient list and they should be limited to no more than 20% of what you eat.

Assess how you feel. Begin new behaviours to build healthy habits. Continue while celebrating wins and making corrections as needed.
